March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the remarkable contributions of women throughout history—trailblazers, caretakers, and leaders who have shaped our communities and our world. Pasadena Village, too, stands strong because of the dedication and leadership of its members, many of whom have given their time, energy, and vision to make it thrive. The makeup of our Village is 76% women, which speaks highly for our leadership.
Since our founding in 2012, Pasadena Village has been a vibrant, growing community built on collective strength. As we navigate an ever-changing world, we must continue to foster leadership and participation to ensure our Village remains strong and resilient, even in the face the current challenges.
Think of our Village as a fine automobile. Every Villager has this vehicle in their garage. Some may simply admire it, while others take it out for a drive, enjoying all the Village has to offer. But for this car to keep running smoothly, some must step forward to maintain it—to fuel it, tune it, and ensure it remains roadworthy for all.
Not everyone needs to be part of the maintenance team, but it is essential that enough of us step up. Leadership in our Village isn’t about titles—it’s about action. It could mean organizing a small gathering, participating in a committee, or sharing your skills to help keep Pasadena Village moving forward.
As we honor the strong women who have paved the way for us all, let us also reflect on how we can contribute to our Village today. We function best when those with experience, time, and passion step forward to lead. Each of us has something valuable to offer. Whether it’s participation, leadership, or maintenance, our Village needs all of us.
Take a moment to ask yourself: how do I contribute? The Village needs leadership in various positions within committees and teams from time to time... opportunities that can also reflect and complement your own interests. Ask yourself: “What does the Village need that I can do?”
By working together, we honor the legacy of those who have come before us and ensure that Pasadena Village remains strong, welcoming, and supportive for years to come.
With gratitude,
Dick Myers
Pasadena Village President
