Eaton Fire Information

A Message from the President of the Board of Directors:
This message from the President is being established to provide a convenient reference point to obtain the latest information we have available about the response of the Village to the recent conflagration. It is intended to be a one-stop reference point to make it easy for our constituents to get access to the latest news we have, what we are doing about it and what resources are available for those in need.
In the wake of the Eaton Canyon fire, our community has swung into action and has contacted all of our 230 current members. 20 individuals have lost their homes; a total of 17 homes have been destroyed. We believe 91 of our Villagers were evacuated from their homes. Some have been able to return but we do not currently have a good count of who is back in their homes or who has been able to visit their home, and who has not.
The Annenberg Foundation has awarded Pasadena Village a grant of $25,000 and from the California Community Foundation a grant of $100,000! Both were issued in recognition of our organization’s relief efforts. Our Grants Officer at the Annenberg Foundation said: "Your organization’s efforts to support older adults through check-ins, resource coordination, and mutual aid are truly commendable."
More than $30,000 has been contributed to a Relief Fund to assist Villagers who have suffered direct losses. Access to the Relief Fund has been made available through a link on our website so that anyone coming to our website through the home page will have an opportunity to contribute.
Village volunteers continue to distribute supplies to residents of our community as well as to their fellow Villagers.
The Eaton Canyon fire is a tragedy that will affect the lives of people around the world for years to come. We have a unique opportunity to document what this means to the people directly involved. Several Villagers have submitted writings that describe their experience and have proven therapeutic for those who are living the experience.
