Happy Hours in Pasadena: A Villager’s Perspective

I moved to Pasadena in May 2023 from Sebastopol in Wine Country where I knew every Happy Hour available in the surrounding area from Santa Rosa to Sonoma, and benefited from many of them! As a retired college professor, my funds had to be monitored but fun was still on my agenda, and what better way to spend the extra time than in pubs and restaurants with other Happy Hour aficionados?

Joining Pasadena Village in 2024 opened new possibilities and when I saw that one of the activities was Happy Hour, I eagerly joined the group. It was a good opportunity to learn about my new city and to meet fun-loving Villagers. My first event was at the Arbour, where I tasted and shared yummy food and met new people, the main purpose of attending. Bridget Brewster was the perfect host and made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. (I suggest Villagers obtain their free name tags at the PV office when participating in this and other events, as I admit I have forgotten some names!)

Pasadena offers good Happy Hour opportunities and as a new Villager, I decided to put my research skills into finding them and sharing the results.

When asked, Dick Myers enthusiastically supported the Happy Hour program. “They're an easy way for people to get together and socialize and meet new people. I would expect to attend every happy hour you schedule if I am available.” Katy Townsend was equally in favor. If you have any restaurant suggestions that are not listed here or comments pro/con of the Happy Hour locations, please share.

And finally, please consider hosting an event. According to Bridget, hosts choose the location, request an RSVP, and inform the restaurant of the approximate number of Pasadena Villagers expected. The host also asks for separate checks. Please contact Bridget Brewster if you are interested in hosting a Happy Hour, as it would be good to have a rotating host system established.

I hope to see you at the next event.
